Revamp with New Preflash Column Exceeds Expectations

A 300,000 BPD crude/vacuum unit on the US Gulf Coast has started up successfully and exceeded expectations following implementation of a Process Consulting Services revamp. Within weeks of startup, the refiner successfully proved crude rates above the revamp goal while simultaneously surpassing targets for diesel recovery and vacuum column cutpoint.

This revamp included installation of a brand new crude preflash column and overhead system, crude preheat train modifications, and vacuum system improvements. Several light ends towers and condensers were also modified to manage the increased naphtha rate associated with running a lighter crude blend.
